Here's how every group trip budget conversation goes. Someone asks "what's everyone thinking, budget-wise?" Five people read it. Nobody answers. Eventually the person with the biggest salary says "idk, like $2k?" and everyone else nods along and quietly panics.

Trip Pulse fixes that by making budgets private. Actually private.

How it works

1. You set your own number. When you answer a trip invite, you tell us what you can realistically spend. It takes about four seconds and zero social courage.
2. Nobody else sees it. Not your friends. Not the organizer. Not the friend who "just wants to understand everyone's situation." Your number is never shown to anyone.
3. We do the math quietly. Each trip option gets an estimated per-person cost. We check it against everyone's private number, so the organizer sees which options work without ever seeing a dollar amount. Once five or more people answer, they also get a rough group budget range, never an individual one.
4. The group picks a trip that works. Not the trip that works for the loudest person. The one that works for the most people.

Why we built it this way

Because money is the thing that actually kills group trips. In a May 2026 survey by CIT Bank and Harris Poll, 82% of group travelers said they'd rather pay more than their fair share than have a money argument. We wrote a whole post about it: the Peace Tax.

When budgets are public, people round up to avoid looking cheap. Then they either overspend or quietly drop out. When budgets are private, people tell the truth, and you plan a trip people can actually afford to show up for.

What we never do

• We never show your dollar amount to anyone, including the organizer.
• We never show individual budgets, only a rough group range once five or more people answer.
• We never sell your data. (It's in our privacy policy, in plain English.)
