Guests spent about $1,300 each on a bachelorette party on average, according to The Knot's 2023 Bach Study: around $1,135 for a 1 to 2 day party and $1,630 for 3 to 4 days. Travel is the biggest swing: guests who flew averaged about $2,000, and those who drove about $900. Guests usually split the bride's share too.
A bachelorette party is the most expensive weekend most guests will spend on someone else. And because it's for the bride, nobody wants to be the one who says it's too much.
So let's say it with numbers, then build a plan people can actually afford.
How much does a bachelorette party cost?
The Knot's 2023 Bach Study surveyed 500 U.S. couples having a bach party in 2023. The average cost per attendee was about $1,300, up $600 since 2019. Most spent under $1,000, but 1 in 10 spent over $3,000. Across all bach parties (bachelor and bachelorette), 64% of attendees spent more than $400; in major metro areas, that rose to 82%.

Those are 2023 numbers, and prices haven't gone down since. It isn't only bachelorettes, either: in a May 2026 CIT Bank / Harris Poll survey, 59% of group travelers who'd attended a wedding, bachelor or bachelorette party in the past five years had spent over $1,000 on travel for those events alone.

Put in your actual plan. The estimate includes each guest's slice of the bride's share, which is the line most organizers forget.

Who pays for the bride?
Usually the guests. The most common approach is that the bride pays her own travel and the group splits her share of the lodging, activities and meals. Whatever you choose, say it in the first message, not after people have booked. Surprise costs are what people resent.
7 ways to make a bach affordable
- Collect budgets before picking the city. Once someone posts a Tulum villa, that's the anchor. Ask what people can spend first, privately.
- Pick somewhere drivable. Based on The Knot's numbers, flying instead of driving is the difference between about $900 and $2,000 per guest.
- Cut a night. Friday to Sunday gets you most of the fun at roughly two thirds of the cost.
- Make the priciest activity optional. Bottle service, spa day, the fancy dinner: opt in, not assumed.
- Share the per-person number up front. All in, including the bride's share. Not "the house is $3,200."
- Skip the matching everything. Shirts, sashes and swag bags are easy to add up to $60 a guest.
- Collect money as you go. Deposits before booking, and one clear settle-up after, so the maid of honor isn't floating $3,000 on her card.
The bride doesn't want the fanciest bach. She wants everyone there.
